PLA is great but for different reasons and only mindbroken "Pokemon has to be EXACTLY like Pt/HGSS/BW2" retards hate it.
It's not meant to be a core rpg, it's meant to be a Pokemon Snap esque safari/research game except it also has battling as a supplementary mechanic. Snap can also be boiled down to "wow just taking pictures is repetitive" if you're a pedantic faggot with no grasp of the bigger picture, it's about how the elements come together and PLA does it pretty well. It's a solid 7/10 whereas SwSh is a 6/10 and BDSP is a true unironic 1/10.
You fags had been asking for a "slightly different experimental RPG spinoff" (that isn't mystery dungeon) in the likes of Colosseum and XD for years and that's exactly what PLA is.
