even if they were good, the idea that you need voice acting for every line is killing rpgs even more than the open world fad
i wouldn't mind if it was just for the main story and maybe the title pop up but even then, just make a good fucking game

Because it's completely inconsequential and the odds of the game getting a great dub are way fucking lower than it getting a shit dub. Nintendo's track record on this in recent years has been horrible. Breath of the Wild's dub is decent at best and more often than not just plain bad. XB2 was the same. You only get dubs like XB3 when the stars align and a ton of conscious effort goes into making the dub sound good in English, which more than likely wouldn't happen.

It wasn't shitty in BotW though. BotW only had voice acting in a couple of cutscenes you could skip. So it wasn't distracting during normal gameplay.

Pokemon doesn't have voice acting because GF is cheap, not because it's a dumb idea. They've already done stupid shit like the Ed Sheeran song, they clearly don't care about what meshes well in the game.

Voice acting can be good, but in practice it hinders your ability to write a fleshed out story, because now you're at the whim of a bunch of VAs payrolls. Bethesda can only get away with 100k+ lines of dialogue because they're fucking wizards in that regard. Not every studio can do shit like that.
