Terastalize isn't going to stay. If you go into discord with tournament players not a single one of them likes it and ultimately those people decide what stays. None of the top ladder players like it either, they'll let it stay for 2 weeks for PR reasons (banning fundamental mechanic pisses off normies even if they don't use Smogon) but then it's gone. It's too random.

No they won't, it's not causing issues. The problem is setup sweepers + terastalize into a type that lives your attempt to revenge it into win. There's no real way to fix this easily, Roaring Moon, Dragapult, Dragonite (anything with DD really), CM users that can get a speed boost, Iron Valiant would all need to get banned.

Also I think that the tera mechanic is currently a bit bugged and applying the "double stab" to everything and not just if you tera into the same type. Some calcs were not adding up

You're thinking it backwards. Good prediction is what differentiates a good and a bad player.
A game like chess or mahjong has millions of different outcomes but a good player can see through them anyway. Here at most you have (2+3) decent tera typings.
Consider what would happen if we banned it, we'd return to a meta where it's easier to predict the outcome of a battle from team preview, meaning bot usage and scouting would dominate.

Even if you can tell what the opponent's Tera is going to be, that doesn't make it fair. What counterplay is there to shit like Tera Water Palafin? Also this is ignoring that if the opponent's designated Tera mon dies without Terastilizing, they can just Terastilize another mon on their team instead. There's also infinite room for innovation so no in the long run it will not be predictable

Mahjong plays differently from chess. It's a defensive game where you have more control over limiting your losses than maximizing your gain. In many cases it's just solitaire as one player builds a hand without any interaction with the other players.

Terastalize is once again a mechanic that doesn't work with how 6v6 is structured. In a much faster, coinflippy meta like VGC it's (probably, I didn't think dynamax was) fine, but 6v6 hinges too much on cores, a certain degree of predictability and terastalize just makes it too easy to crack open a team or put yourself in a massively advantageous position without having to work for it.

You're moving your argument onto Palafin because it's a statistical behemoth and it wouldn't stay in a normal meta. Tough I guess I'd answer Chilly Reception Slowking or just switching onto Torkoal when opp switches to Palafin.

I even considered making an AI that would use emotes and their effects to reach superior winrate to SuphX, and only gave up for now because I can't slot learning python in my life currently.
WWYDs are 2D. Games from a "digital" perspective are 3D. Actual games in objective truth are 4D.

i've been using it in OU and it's been pretty fun. sucker punch kills flutter mane and first impression kills roaring moon. loses to a lot of stuff and terastalize existing makes it a lot worse but it's usable currently because priority is so good.

Just kick the strongest priority abusers out of OU, they're broken this gen with Terastal, they'll be back being balanced next gen without the gimmick. I'd rather keep Terastal over Scizor, Kingambit and Palafin in OU.

Valiant is too item-reliant, and can only really be pulled out once because the Booster Energy is consumable. Roaring Moon is pretty ridiculous if it can set up, but Protosynthesis can't boost speed without losing attack so it's easy for other common mons to deal with. I haven't seen that many Iron Bundles, but my team has a lot of fighting moves so it was never an issue when I did see one.
They're being overshadowed by more broken Pokemon currently.

I've said this before but Smogon has allowed you to use multiple copies of the same item (IE Life Orb, Leftovers) since forever, you cannot do this on cartridge. Smogon doesn't allow you to put multiple Pokemon to sleep, cartridge does. Of course it's a fanfic meta but no one who actually plays Smogon tiers gives a shit, it's a meaningless statement.

It means that in order to preserve stall which for some reason is the preferred playstyle of the powers that be at Smogon they ban offensive threats and mechanics. I remember when everyone was complaining about Clefable but because it was a staple in stall there was no ban at all for example. Gen 9 nerfed the fuck out of stall, buffed offense and made an offense mechanic. You bet your ass this gen will have a Ton of bans to offensive threats and mechanics going against the spirit of the game.

So is there any belief that Dondozo + Tatsugiri can work in any doubles format? 2v1'ing is almost always a terrible idea, and even with the boosts I just don't see competitive viability in having a Tatsugiri on your team as a standalone especially when the two share the same defensive type and just don't do anything alone, no flexibility.
