Its pretty good if you dont mind the shit ton of dialogue and graphics even worse than Pokemon. Voice acting is top notch.

It’s persona mixed with medieval anime sword-fighters. if you want an SRPG with actual gameplay, check out triangle strategy or tactics ogre.

Wait for Engage. 3H is too easy and the 4 possible routes are 99% identical during the first half of the game. The class system is the most unbalanced its ever been and the monastery parts are going to tire you after a certain point.

Dragon Quest is fun, especially riding the various mounts like the giant bumblebees. I liked DQ Builders (2) more though for the more sandbox experience

Was 3H that bad? I've read repeat playthroughs are a nightmare because of the monastery and didn't want to buy it because of the atrocious art direction and went with DQ11 for some old-school fun instead.

Anyone complaining about the monastery is a retard. All points of interest are marked on the map so you don't need to wander around looking for something new or different, and you also have the option to ignore it entirely. Now, if you're a minmaxer and want to squeeze every possible advantage you can get out of the game, then that's on you. You should expect grindy repetitive tasks if you insist on minmaxing in any game.

Also to add to this, once you beat the game, you have even less of a reason to use the monastery often because you get points from your previous playthrough to reunlock stuff quickly once you've progressed back to a certain point
