Honestly, if we're going after gen 3 I'd say natures are worse. Abilities rarely ever negatively effect a pokemon and can lead to some cool teams and setups. Meanwhile, all a nature does is either boost a pokemon's best stats or hinder it. Although at least both are visible to the player and aren't invisible values.
