Has some really great tracks in undertale.

But nowadays I feel all of his songs start out alright for 30 seconds, then he doesn't know where to go next and its a mishmash of loud sounds and noise until it returns to the start melody.

The battle theme sounded like a composition of almost every battle themes in the prev generation.

Literally none of his songs are like that. They go a bit off into the pattern, but it’s usually with a familiar rhythm or instruments to spice out the song a bit more.

I think the music and the art direction are far and away the best part of SV. The Italy/Spain vibe is really cool and it plays with the Pokemon motifs in fun ways and it's honestly a shame that all that has to be plastered onto a broken buggy mess of a game.

I doubt anything can be worse than that gym leader theme that tries to be fun with interuments but never progresses anywhere and then gets cut by the annoying cheering from gen 8 (disregard the fact that you aren't battling in a stadium full of people), or the boring as fuck wild pokemon battles that never try to do something interesting or be memorable in any way.
At least Toby's tracks are fast-paced.

I believe it's a combination of both, Toby did the Area Zero theme and the Final boss theme and terra raid, and I think they combined both styles for area Zero wild battle theme. Either or both styles collide very well and Toby in his own is great.

I don't know which tracks Toby Fox did but I do agree that this is probably the worst soundtrack to any Pokemon game yet, which is insane to me. Granted I haven't beaten the game yet and maybe I need time for some song(s) to grow on me, but I don't think I've ever been this let down by a Pokemon soundtrack before. As shit as the last few gens have been the soundtrack has always had a least a few good songs. It's like if a Megaman game had no good songs.

He's was a bit harsh in his description, but I definitely think the sounds spend most of the time just dancing around a core riff without allowing the audience to fully enjoy it and without building on it much besides using alternative versions of the original riff.
