I've dabbled in Gold, I've finished SoulSilver, but today, I start playing Pokemon Crystal foe the very first time.
Anons, any advice, tips, tricks or other comments I should know?

Other than take advantage of revised encounters, it's really not much different than any other pokemon game. Just enjoy the animations,cozy palette and Easter eggs added from the base games

The definitive version of Crystal is the VC version.
It has everything that's otherwise exclusive to the Japanese version.

Not needing to look for suicune was nice, it's the shittiest beast to find early on because it runs straight into the water after you release them.
Meanwhile raikou and entei can be sighted without really trying.

Save before daycare egg. Has 75% chance to be shiny I think. If it's Tyrogue, ATK>DEF makes Lee, DEF>ATK Chan and ATK=DEF Top.

Also jumpluff is good for catching dogs because high speed and spore. I forget minimum level to guarantee first turn but it might be 38 or something.

Also, the box trick still works it's just that the timing is much shorter. You have to reset just as the text box finishes.

It might've, idk too much about it, but connecting to a Japanese mobile network to do online shit in the very early 2000s seems possible.
It's also not like it matters because who's going to be seriously upset over the loss of late 90s Japanese cell phone connectivity when the English version of the Celebi event was finally available and all the legal Pokemon caught could be transferred to the latest mainline games?

claire's gifted dratini learns extremespeed
suicune can be caught sooner, birds are postgame
iirc houndoom, sneasel, larvitar and gligar are available earlier
