Imagine if battles in Pokemon games were AI trained using data from the world championships or maybe even Showdown. How kino would that be?

My most annoying gripe with existing battles is when a pokemon uses a move that always fails when used a second time (eg. toxic spikes). Especially when they do it multiple times in a row. This shit happened during the AI Prof battle too...

Yea, Gamefreak really does need to work on the behavior and decision-making of their Ai. Like their current Ai is fine for like random low level trainers. But it feels nonsensical at higher tiers like if you battle the champion.

I played these games with a zoroark disguised as a mon weak to psychic and the AI literally can't do anything about it when their pokémon know a psychic move. They'll just use it over and over and over and over despite the fact it doesn't do anything. It's pretty retarded.

Theres a couple romhacks out there that have vastly improved AI for trainer battles
The usual problem is the game becomes a slog through a bunch of teams that are just toxic -> protect -> minimizex3 -> protect ->spikes/pebblesx3
