It gets goofy very fast. If you look at the gen 5 ban list its like

It's literally comedy. Just ban baton pass. There's 1000 other moves and 1000 other mons. Just use someone else or play ubers

Not him but that seems awfully inconsiderate of the future lower tiers that're gonna be formed. If only Last Respects got banned then it'd just settle below OU and maybe find a niche as either a Sand Sweeper or a surprisingly good physical tank due to its access to Will-O-Wisp and Fluffy

The council themselves said that they know the move is the problem, but only one pokemon know the move. They said that if Basculegion is released and still have Last Respect (they don't know if it will still have it or not since Gamefreak have change pokemon in Pokemon home before) then they will unbanned Houndstone and just banned the move. If Basculegion does not have Last Respect, they will just keep Houndstone banned.

There is a timer. Each player has 2 minutes over the whole match to think between plays. Unless you want a time limit like how sword shield is right now where you have 20minutee to complete the battle. Which let me remind you a timer is shit.

Play 6v6 anyway. Low rating chumps like you get packed in within 2 mons and matches last 3 minutes when you get 6-0d on preview

Actual clown behavior. Not that I care too much since I don't play by Smogon rules but I still find it funny. At least let a proper metagame to be established before quickbanning something that gets OHKO'd by neutral priority moves.

Last Respects gets a power buff (+50 points) for every member of your party that has fainted. At five fainted party members, its base damage is 300. Houndstone also gets Sand Rush, boosting its speed to 136 in Sandstorms.

The only thing Smogon did wrong was not ban them immediately long side the box art legendaries, along with Palafin, Chien-Pao, and Shed Tail who are all obviously broken.
I mean really, Palafin is basically Water type Regigigas with priority and Slow Start now only lasts the first turn you’re out, Chein-Pao is Gen 8 Weavile but better in every way including having essentially tough claws as an ability, and Shed Tail is Baton Pass and Substitute combined into 1 move.

If anything, Smogon is too slow with bans, not being ban happy.
