I mean its not that common at all but I think you're underestimating how good a fire type with chlorophyll and stab solar beam is on sun teams.
252+ SpA Choice Specs Cacturne Fire Blast vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Nidoking in Sun: 283-334 (60.9 - 71.9%) Thats how it does against Clodsdire which is the best special wall besides Bliss(Chan)sey currently available. With modest it ties with 101 scarfers and with timid it outspeeds 115 scarfers. The only non scarfers it has to worry about are Flutter Mane, which was banned, Iron Bundle, Iron Valiant.

The Giant Sequoia requires there to be regular low level forest fires in order to propagate properly. While it can release it's seeds without the heat of a fire opening the cones above the seeds of the tree must hit soil directly in order to germinate which usually can't happen without a fire clearing the bed of dry pine needles covering the soil.

So you can do that although it would only canonically allow it to have a fire resistance via an ability but hey I'm reaching a bit.

Honestly thought Scovillian was one of the best designs from this generation. You say it looks like plastic but it since its based on bell peppers that makes sense because bell peppers look like thier made of plastic. It reminds me of Cacturne both in looks and stats unfortunately. Why GF keeps giving these pokemon aimless stats.
