>gym tests are an abortion; really awkward and half-assed mechanics for thirty-second segments. The sidequests from Arceus that had little stories attached and changed the hub town in small ways were supposed to be baby steps for an expanded version in a mainline game, instead they went backwards in SV
>game feels fuckin bereft of stuff to do, especially the post-game. No battle tower, no safari zone, no bug catching contests, no weekly events, nothing aside from rematch battles and tera raids to do.
>I don't even get into shiny hunting, but I'd be mad if I was. So many super small pokemon or flying pokemon that would be hard to tell because they took away the shiny indicator. A friend was shiny hunting Noivern during an outbreak and one spawned and flew away before he could get to it because it was in mid air and he couldn't get to it in time because your ride pokemon in this one can't fly like in Arceus and wild pokemon kept running at him to engage in battles as he tried to climb walls to glide to it.
>shit customization options because you're stuck to 4 uniforms with predetermined colors. Can't even unlock alternate uniform looks like Arven's or Team Star's. Reward for doing all the post game stuff is a hat. Even doing all the academy classes and finishing finals doesn't allow you to take off the uniform
Eh. Game's big technical issues are a huge problem, but even without them the game feels so stripped back that I couldn't say it's that good. Is top 3 counting all spinoff titles too? Because I don't even know if "top 3 mainline pokemon game" is that high of praise, even if it were true.
