The main issue isnt even the blob nature of it, its the solid one color of it, usually old school sugimori designs ranged in 3 colors to break up the simple shapes

Do you mean like Exeggcute and Ninetails and Machop and Grimer and Venomoth?

Tinkaton does have as many colours as the aforementioned gen one Pokemon.

No, you're simply accustomed to it, it's not a good design.

Without context, you'd have no idea what it was supposed to be or what it was related to. It has no fingers or thumbs or toes.

just because a pokemon is from gen 1-2, doesn't mean its good.
