I went immediately to the bug gym and I was overleveled without even trying. That NEVER happened in the old games, because the amount of experience points available meant only the biggest autists had the patience to over level.
Sure, you could skip ahead to some harder areas first, but then you still have to do the earlier areas, and now they're super easy.
