>>52298378It can be both, the games aren't complicated enough to have to choose between. If you want to play that way, cool. If other people want to have their favorite in their team, also cool. The issue is there is no longer that choice for many people, as well as some good utility Pokemon being removed.
Parasect not available in Sword/Shield, for instance, a great Pokemon for catching since it has the Damp ability and learns False Swipe and Spore (100% sleep chance).
In SV, not a single Pokemon with the Harvest ability that can learn Trick or Skill Swap, also a useful setup for capturing Pokemon.
I force myself to play with all-new Pokemon during each new playthrough, because you never know if you will discover a new favorite. My go-to team is a mix of Pokemon from several generations, so this isn't just some REEE OLD GOOD NEW BAD rant. The Dex cut is legitimately problematic for many players, just because it doesn't affect you doesn't invalidate their experiences.
