There’s just too many normies that like pokemon again. Completely different from gen 4 and 5 when Facebook constantly shat on vanilluxe and used charizard as a comparison. My normie friends who shat on gen 5 hard came back to pokemon when sword and shield came out and now want SV. They’re the backbone of the franchise now.

The Switch ruined almost every Nintendo franchise, I'm fully convinced of it.
They tried so hard and actually put out some amazing games in the 3DS and Wii U, only for no one to care, then the Switch comes out and literally anything breaks sales records on it without even trying.

Th difference is normies bought into the Switch, they didn't by into WiiU, which was horribly marketed and terribly confused. Everything's setting records as for the first time, they have both the mass-market appeal (like Wii), but with their core gamerbase along for the ride to help kickstart sales numbers like we've seen (breath of the wild had a 125% attachment rate at one stage in the first 6 weeks of its launch).
Sounds like you just got gypped on a WiiU back in the day, no harm.

No, using DS' sales compared to Switch would be a straw man, as though it sold 154m units, most of that was "Blue Ocean" sales akin to Wii's sales, where Nintendo specifically sought a non-gamer gaming market to sell to and Pokémon saw little return for those 70m+ sales DS saw over GBA,DP managing just 1.45m more than RS's 16.22m.
I used sale swhere the gamers clearly were part of the ecosystem, as that's who's playing Switch currently. They didn't touch anything in between Game Boy and now, because there wasn't anything worth fuck to the system to bother.

I check facebook comments of pokemon related shit every once in a while and It's usually just normies saying they're enjoying the game and seeying nothing wrong with it not even complaining about the pokemon designs which to me is bizarre because I remember a time when B/W were the most hated pokemon games just because the pokemon were ugly. I think it was around this time the term genwunner came along because people got sick of old fans shitting on newer designs.
