>>52299421Then Gen 3 comes around and you can already see the signs of stagnation that would later come to plague the franchise. The mass removal of core features and overall less content than the Gen 2 games made it feel far less impressive than Gen 1 and 2 from a first-time experience. The main problem with Gen 3 was that instead of taking the franchise into the next direction, it instead chose to "remake" Gen 1's formula. Obviously that approach is not gonna work well when the only reason the original games were successful was because of its uniqueness.
This approach of just rehashing the Gen 1 formula from Masuda has permanently damaged the series and prevented it from evolving. I mean, for fuck's sake, he chose to keep those stupid grass circles under each Pokémon in battle in Gen 6, the Gen where Pokémon finally went 3D. And, despite having fully 3D overworlds, it was STILL grid-based. Gen 5 was literally just Kanto 2.0 except you have to mash through endless dialogue and handholding in a 15 year old series that can be played by literal babies, all in a region that is just a linear straight line.
Then with Gen 7, the reigns are handed to Ohmori. Great, the franchise finally has a chance to evolve. Ha, nope. Enjoy your reskinned last-minute Gyms and Totem/Alpha/Titan Pokémon that are definiely totally different things. Please enjoy your waifu simulator *raughs*.
At least SV SEEMS to be ambitious in some ways, but the lack of features carried over from LA and the brokenness of the game ultimately highlights the problems with this god-forsaken franchise and the greedy, disfunctional company behind it that have been present since day fucking 1.
