Now, most Pokemon games are fine except for one part that's either bad or boring, and it's up to the individual's taste for if it fucks them off enough to not like it. RSE's ocean doesn't bother me because the rest of the game provides a great sense of adventure, while Gen 1's open mid-late game is really boring and I skip most of it even though it's the defining aspect of the game for some people. Hell, I think one of the bigger debates about Gen 6 is how people think it falls apart after you get Megas, and I think they were going for a small cooldown period after you get it but the fact that Lumiose doesn't have enough on offer means the game only kinda picks back up after the Pokeball Factory and never gets back to the pacing of the first 3 gyms anyway. Again, this is down to weird autistic taste, and while I feel like most people won't get it, the kind of people who are passionate and buy shit like the third version are more likely to understand those fine differences.
>>52304831The difference is that SWM has pretty much perfect level design aside from a few out there levels. SMB3 on the other hand have more levels that have an idea and just go from there. That doesn't sound that different, but SMW is dominated by levels with repeating concepts within them almost too perfectly occasionally, while SMB3 relies more on the setpeice aspect of their design which keeps things fresh in unexpected ways (the heavily themed worlds also help with this a little bit). I think it wasn't really until 3D World that these aspects blended super well, but the Galaxy games certainly tried.
