Literal retard or cardboard both suck ass. Pokemon as an anime relies somewhat on change to propel itself forward.
Ash has too much age on him for this to look reasonable. They want him to be some Doraemon or some shit but it doesn't work with how their anime is setup.
He's an awful pick and overall makes the anime super stale.
Even if they reverted him to OG Ash(minus being shit at life obviously), it'd feel kinda questionable to me. But we're dealing with whats essentially a bootleg at this point, and he makes the anime a super slog.
I never got the attachment to him.
