The professors are obsessed with the past and future, and want to make a time machine that brings those Pokémon into the present day.
This technology is way ahead of the time, but the professors discover the crystals in Area Zero. This allows them to create much better technology like a realistic AI and a time machine. I the professors test the time machine by sending Pokémon from the past or future to an arbitrary point in years ago. They observed that people from 100 years ago created the scarlet and violet books, and the professors consider this proof that the time machine actually works. The professor then proceeded to send these Pokémon to the present date. This work is incredibly secretive, and so everyone assumes that the score of the invalid books always existed, and that those expositions were just crazy people, just like the professors. The story of the games follow.
