the way you caught Pokemon in PLA and the action rpg shit were the best shit game freak have thought up in years and I cannot believe they didn't add it to SV. there was definitely a way to make it work in a modern setting but they didn't even bother trying

Pros of both:
>Open world games that have actual gameplay instead of cutscene corridors
>Actually cared to touch up models and animations

PLA pros:
>An actual interesting setting
>Legit fanservice that isn't just KANTOOOO
>Story is interesting
>Fights are difficult
>Catching is fun
>Movement feels great

PLA cons:
>Far removed from the traditional structure. Lack of routes, towns, and gyms leaves the game feeling ever so lacking
>No PvP battles
>Battle system is broken and lacks depth

SV Pros:
>Insanely replayable
>First new-gen game to feel like mainline instead of a knock-off or a spin-off since XY
>Game's artstyle is better than any pokemon game on the switch that's not named LGPE

SV Cons:
>Stutters like SWSH in the wild area everywhere
>Removed QOL like mass releasing that was in PLA
>Shops are just menus with two of the clothing categories just being blatant DLC bait

>dumbed down most status moves into "raise all attacking power" and "raise all defensive power" with "raise speed" mixed in
>6 story trainer battles total, you will be overleveled for all of them
>egregious amount of cutscenes and getting locked into long dialogue. doesn't help that the story is the dullest shit in the world.
>throwing random objects at shit is the core gameplay loop, pokemon battling is sidelined
I struggle to think of positives. haven't played SV.

I like exploring Pokémon world and I like the seamless wild battles. Just needs to be polished up a bit. I think they should introduce Pokémon snap mechanics. Wild Pokémon should be more expressive. I do enjoy how to see Applin and Pineco hanging from trees and seeing pokmeon eat/sleep. But they could definitely add more expressiveness. Then introduce the picture taking and rankings. Maybe you could get LP for pictures. (Bonus points if it's pictures of Spidops)

>Agile/Strong is mostly worthless with Agile being entirely pointless
>Stiff controls make exploration a chore
>Trainer can take damage
>Small Pokémon pool with mostly the same Pokémon you see every game
>No Breeding
>No PVP Battles
>No Trading
>Pokédex and side quests are mostly repetitive busywork
>Progression being tied to completing this busy work made the game dull fast
>Story about the player being sent to the past is dumb
>Execution of revisiting the region in the distant past was underwhelming
>Boss battles are not fun and having to run around and not die instead of just battling Pokémon ruins the experience

Overall, it's just a bad game
