People who do play on cart are YouTubers who need the flashier animations in their videos or are playing in Tournaments for that game because GameFreak of course isn’t going to host shit on a free browser simulator that would otherwise give their fans a peak at not eating shit.
And for people playing on Smogon metas, they absolutely don’t play on cart ever. Smogon even changes game mechanic on Showdown for sleep clause. In Gen 8, they even discussed if Sleep Clause should be banning sleep moves or banning people from clicking sleep powder after something is asleep. Most people bitched about it and Sleep Clause stayed as change game mechanic in standard play.
They also patched Counter in Gen 1 so it doesn’t desync and some fags have been asking to make recovery BP back to 16.
So if they are willing to preserve old sleep clause and Counter, then why not also modify moves like Last Respect to be +25 per fainted teammate or make it so Iron Head has no flinch chance?
The answer is that they’re just fucking lazy and want to maintain a Democracy image, something that you can’t do with balance patches.
