You're also currently stuck with four school uniforms, you might be able to change that in the future, but you also might not want to buy whatever GF expects you to pay to not be stuck with them. Violet's color scheme is a lot safer and easier to play around with (probably).
After those two things which you're stuck with there's version exclusive pokemon which you could just get traded to you. Both of them have their merits, I think the Scarlet ones look better, but if you're a compfag it's kind of a toss-up for doubles. For singles just play on showdown.
