Skeledirge is ugly, but in contrast to furbait Meowscarada and the flamboyant Quaquaval that's what you get for a starter.
Tinkaton's Pokedex entries state that it's the natural predator for Corviknights, however its middling stats and movepool don't support the Pokedex's claims. Thus the ">NUMBERS" being a reference to Tinkaton's lower than average Attack stat of 75. Additionally, for some reason there's a skub-like conflict between Corviknight fans and Tinkaton fans.
Palafin has stupidly large stats when in Hero Form and conveniently there's also a Pokemon with "villain" in its name. His evolution method was rather obscure for a while as well.
Gholdengo is the National Dex's 1000th Pokemon, and his extremely silly design has some people claiming it's something of a "wasted get".
Koraidon's goofiness as a lizard and his wheel-like dewlap and tail, while not actually being used as wheels (in contrast to Miraidon, whose actually are), lead some to call it inferior to its robotic counterpart.
