>>52350458>Because subverting your expectations is part of challenging the player and not holding their handsNo? I fundamentally don't understand what you're talking about.
>I literally just explained itSo what is the benefit of having to work for the ability to use my most basic melee attack? Because it adds another step to a process that's simple in every game?
>If you find something you actually like then just go back to the enemy you found using it whenever it breaks. Again, weapons are a renewable resource. So it adds on another level of backtracking, got it.
>It's communicated fairly well that weapons aren't meant to last forever.Yeah, when they're tree branches or rusty garbage you found on the ground, I agree. Hell, some of the lore for some of the other weapons also fit this well, I think the strongest weapons in the game have a Hyrule Compendium entry that explains itself really well in a place most people will never read it.
>And if they gave weapons more durability I think it would only make it more frustrating for the player when they breakI'm not so sure about that either, but the way it is right now is bad enough that we're having this argument in the first place, and people agree with me over you, so something needs to change.
Let me ask two questions, would BotW be a better game if you had to go up to an animal you killed and turn it into meat instead of it poofing into meat? And would BotW be a better game if it expanded on Death Stranding's walking system?
