In the anime, you mean? Probably seen as too old and BW didn't have any sort of real subquest she'd be able to do, so going with a younger gym leader with an established interest presumably felt safer.

Yeah, I almost mentioned that in the post. It probably didn't occur to them at the time that they could just do that. To this date, she's the only character they've done that with.

Maybe. Hard to tell really, their designs weren't changed all that much. I guess Kiawe was, I think he was said to be college age in the games.

Everything about the Gen 5 anime was awful and that only seemed to sour gen 5's reputation amongst most fags here despite BW being the last great game in the series.

But on the bright side they didn't butcher Hilda like they did Serena.

I'm not even sure it's better than B2W2. I mean it's arguably the best first version, but given the competition is severely gimped in one way or another BW gets by on just being solid.

Too old and at the time they'd just rather use the rat than age her down. Given that Serena was ruined by being aged down I don't think this is a bad thing. It is interesting though that Hilda still managed to be popular in spite of not being in the anime or being pushed heavily in a mobile game like Rosa was.

Not saying she wasn't but she did get a notable push that Hilda didn't. And to say the anime has no influence is very wrong. Serena is a perfect example of this; consider how different her portrayal in the anime is compared to the games. Now which version of her is the more popular one (despite being vastly inferior)?
