Same, I did my replays on emulators just so I could fast forward through the cutscenes. This is the gen that got me back into Pokemon

I frankly avoid comparing G1/G2 with the others due to technical complexities. It seems unfair, it's like comparing an F150 to a model T, sure, one is better than the other, but that doesn't diminish the older one

They did a really good job with the girl designs. I don't think anyone is going to argue that.

Also just has some really pretty music. Aside from maybe gen 4, I think it does the best at establishing a mood for the game

Sun and Moon still have the best feeling of exploration for me.

Just having the riding Pokémon and the integrating them lightly into the route and dungeon design works well.

It’s really strange that Sword was the sequel to this. Were they made by different teams?
