>>52354983I think Game Freak is learning how to balance, or try to balance PvP, but are just unsuccessful. They have to have watched OU to make the desicions like
>scald getting removed from learnsets>pp for recovery moves being gutted>8th gen timer making most 6v6 singles matches a time crunch if not impossible>nuking the ability to have transfer moves onto Home anymore, quashing transfer moves from old gens completley (if they didnt miss the boat that is Pokemon Bank shutting down) All of these decisions seem to be lending to the same purpose-
>we don't want the game to be played in ways we didn't want it to be. I strongly feel like Pokemon wants to do what they can to at least influence the OU meta and make it faster. Not all matches go above 30 turns but they seem uninterested in +30 turn matches existing. On one hand they care, on the other it seems like their definition of care is different than what most OU players would want. The problem here is still that Pokemon doesnt try to make VGC rules more accesible to players and do a piss poor job at prepping them for double battles before the Battle Tower/ whatever post game doubles challenges there are. Maybe one or two double battles here or there, maybe a multibattle with an npc partner, but how can they expect people to want to play the format they're half attempting to funnel people to if they aren't used to it? They want battles to not take too long and be accessible but railroading playstyles so strongly is what turned me off from Smogon in the first place, dick move to be doing it yourselves, Pokemon.
I say to anyone who wants to play a more open minded format to try VGC, but alas the common criticism I hear on why this won't work for someone are
>I want to play singles>don't like the protect play>I like some smogon rules but not all/ this format is too different for my tasteVGC isn't for everyone but it's a strong, constantly evolving format. Give it a shot if you're unhappy with Smogon.
