Have you seen slither tail in action? It looks like it has a literal dragon tail. And it stands up on two legs. It all caught me off guard for a sec. So yea, I can absolutely see it as a bug/dragon.

Volcarona was literally the sun pokemon. Why wouldn't an ancestor lack a sun-based ability? Lack of Victory Dance is dumb though.

Volcarona was literally the sun pokemon. Why would it's ancestor lack a sun-based ability? Lack of Victory Dance is dumb though.

It's less about the abilities not making sense and more just them being generic boring abilities slapped on all the paradoxmons, like beast boost on the UBs. I'll admit Tough Claws is a boring alternative I made up on the spot maybe a reworked Solar Power that also boosts physical would be better. Or just make Protosynthesis exclusive to Slither Wing and give the other guys different abilities.

Iron Moth not getting Quiver Dance is absolutely stupid, however. As for the abilities, since all of the paradox mons have the same ability that synergizes with their respective box legendary, i'd imagine a serviceable HA will appear with DLC.

Iron moth is actually solid in doubles with poison typing for dicking faries and great offensive stats backed by tailwind and not held back by volcarona’s shit bug typing. Slither wing can’t say much because i havent used it but its neat shit like flare blitz, will-o-wisp. Might be good for something

Worse typing. It loses Dark STAB in exchange for Electric, of which there's still hardly any good physical electrical moves, and it trades a 4x Fighting weakness for a more common 4x Ground weakness.
The lack of proper electric STAB wouldn't be an issue if it still had TTar's serviceable 95 SpA so it could at least pump out strong Tbolts, but alas, Thorns' SpA is 70.
It also loses a lot of TTar's tankiness, taking both a huge hit to it's raw SpD stat but also losing Sand Stream, meaning it doesn't get the innate SpD boost Rock provides.
It's faster, I guess? But not enough to really matter all that much, at least it can still DD.

I wouldn't say it's worse. It exchanges raw physical bulk and coverage for better special bulk and useful tools like priority and WoW.
