Only the final 3 gyms and the child E4 are really bad, everything else is fine. Most of the gym tests were pretty fun, despite their simple, bordering on lazy concepts.

Maylene is great.
Candice is great.
Wake, Fantina, and Volkner are all inoffensive compared to most nu-gym leaders. I think Gen 4 had a strong set of Gym Leaders overall.

The only one of these that's truly memorable on the games' own merits is Corrina. Clemont gets a pass for the anime. Valerie is at least somewhat notable for the new type. But then Viola and Wulfric are fairly forgettable, and the other three are even worse than that.

I think what made them forgettable was their lack of 3D models. If Team Flare grunts got them, why didn't the gym leaders? Another reason why X/y was a disappointment.
