>"Paradox pokemon are imagined into existance! They aren't real!" >"That's just for China, they can't have references to china!" In truth, the answer is not obvious, and probably won't be until the DLC, but till then, there is a post game scene that strongly implies extreme fuckery and that there are issues with the claim they are time displaced pokemon. During a certain talk with Arven in the post game, he will explicitly point out that most people thought the Violet/Scarlet book was hogwash, and he only turned to the HM Herbs out of desperation, and was shocked when they worked. He shows you the page with the disk pokemon on it, and points out that the page is smudged and illegible in every single print of the book, something he finds off. He will then mention how the book was what inspired his parent to make the time machine, but then he will immediately point out that it doesn't make sense then how paradox pokemon existed before the time machine, like the book points out.

Personally I think that the bit about them being "imagined into existence" fits the theme of "magical pocket monsters" a lot better than time travel normie shit. Leave that to Digimon or something, I'd rather pokemon get into the more abstract concepts and something perhaps more original than something that's been an overdone staple of hack fiction authors for decades.

>>52368320 Time Travels been around since gen 2, with Celebi.
It's pretty staple for pokemon.

In that same chat, Arven literally says that the time machine "Allowed them (The professor) to bring their dreams into reality" While arven def didn't mean it literally, I'm assuming there is meta wink to the player here.

What we know:>The professor loved the book since being a child >The original expedition team of Area Zero led by Heath supposedly saw and got attacked by paradox Pokémon >One of the members drew a sketch (of the time machine?) yet has no memory of ever drawing it >The disc Pokémon is responsible for the tera gimmick and makes it possible for an exact AI replica of the professor to exist despite the tech not being there anywhere else >One of the artists of the expedition drew a Pokémon which they imagined could be living in area 0 (and they will be a Pokémon we can get) >Nobody believes in the scarlet/violet book and even Arven still has his doubts >Strange symbols and markings in Area 0 seem to allude to something

>>52369547 Sorry, that was me having a brain fart as I wrote, I meant to say "You can't have references to time travel" because china has some legal thing where you can't have actual time travel in it's media.

No other rules. Like the biggest chinese anime from 2021 is entirely about time travel and that certainly wasn't pulled or cancelled since all it was about was saving people/preventing incidents/etc

How do we know that the AI professor was even created by the professor? Maybe Arven wanted to be accepted so much that the third legendary created the AI for him to help him come to terms with the death and move on.
