Charizard isn't based on a skeleton, though. Skeledirge's markings are intended to vaguely resemble a human skull. And there is no universe where the fire can be mistaken for hair - unless you're saying you're a bald fucker with hair somehow growing out of your mouth.

How is it cope? Hair doesn't grow out of a person's mouth, and Skeledirge's fire isn't coming out of its head, so the fire cannot be mistaken as hair unless that's what you want to see. Again, they already did this design with Mega Charizard X, except this time around the pokemon has sugar skull markings on its face.

GameFreak did Skelledirge dirty with the low poly model and colour scheme messing with its head.
Could have just stuck to Red and White scheme overall.
White Skull with Red eyes, Red body with White zebra stripes.
