So at the worst you're going to have to sacrifice something when this happens just so you can throw out a counter to it. If they switch out, they lose their boost and are unable to perform it again for the rest of the battle. Likewise, it encourages a diversification of your move options so you can at least do neutral damage regardless of its tera type. It also doesn't fully negate their ability to be struck down with status effects aside from what their tera type can resist.
It's only a problem in a format that actively seems to promote a homogenized team building pattern that is completely based on predictable outcomes that lack any room for actual challenge or strategy. The one thing that makes me happy is the fact that at the end of the day, Smogon has no effect on the greater whole of Pokemon and their opinions amount less to me than horse shit. This makes me happy and I'm just going to go back to playing Scarlet. They can do whatever they please, I'm just gonna stop caring about it.
