>>52376496>Consoles always trade places. One gen one console is on top, next gen its the other. But you have the benefit of hindsight, Nintendo didn't. Regardless there's no way of proving things would've worked out, based on the data they had at the time, Sony were trending upwards at a ridiculous pace, Microsoft (a huge behemoth) entered wanting to take a piece of the cake and their former competitor Sega was reduced to software only (unrelated reasons but still has a effect on Nintendo's decision making).
I agree the GC has a lot of good and fun games, but it also suffered from a lot of droughts and questionable decisions which handicapped it out of the gate (sadly), also agree it definitely had the better multiplats against PS2.
>I dont think so. Nintendo might have a loyal 30+ year old following but Nintendo completely failed to "cradle to grave" market their young consumers. Back in my day all kids grew up on Nintendo. Now they grow up on Minecraft, Roblox, and Fortnite. They spend more time on tablets.
Eventually whats going to happen is that these Nintendo boomers are going to die off and there will be a sharp drop in Nintendo consumers. And their marketing departments are gonna be baffled wondering what the fuck happened.
Maybe you're right anon. Honestly I hope you are so that Nintendo get their asses in gear and stop being lazy again, Switch era has been pretty disappointing for me first party game wise. Only time will tell. I suppose they're showing signs that they understand the market is changing what with their sudden diversifying (moving into movies, theme parks, merchandise like that terrible Mario watch).
