I understand the point, but nonetheless, there’s no reason that for a franchise this big, half the Pokémon should be cut from the game other than Game Freak is seeing how many corners they can cut without it effecting sales.

It’s not even half assed, it’s quarter assed, and I still maintain it is a disastrous long term strategy to employ for such a popular franchise. They’re doing a ton of damage, it just takes some time to reach critical mass.
