Something you could do to rectify that is have it appear as a Deino/Zweilous earlier so it's a long-term companion and less out of left field, and thus won't stand out against the other 'nicer' ones as much , or Malamar which is part Psychic

The team has a theme more than "technology is incredible" I just wanted the gym leader to be the fatguy in the first town who's always talking about how incredible technology is. The "real" theme is versatility, even though it's a normal mono-type every pokemon is either a dual type or has some way to change it's type.
