>>52400078I still find myself humming the Xerneas/Yveltal theme in my head from time to time
including the stupid Delphox cry from that youtube ripXY was the absolute easiest generation to farm money in, holy hell was Battle Chateau busted. I had a team of level 80s, had purchased every clothing item available to me, and still had millions in bank with very little effort on my part... before reaching the second gym! I've probably beaten Viola more than any other gym member combined at this point, because gym leaders that you'd fought before could appear at Marchioness level. Granted, I played the game enough where I ...kinda stopped playing the game the normal way, but I digress.
XY was also the start of introducing incredible team diversity right out of the starting gate. It was trivial to have 2-3 each of fire/water/grass mons before even doing your first gym (elemental monkeys, litleo, fletchinder, burmy, marill, psyduck). You had early access to Riolu. Pikachu... was there. Vivillon just made your game easier with 91% accurate Sleep Powder and later access to Quiver Dance / Hurricane strats. I'm not even bothering to mention a bunch of the 'underwhelming' ones like... you know, bunnelby / caterpie / weedle / pidgey / zigzagoon / dunsparce (fyi I love me some zigzagoon and bunnelby, used it in most of my plays for Pickup strats).
Compared to Gen 5, at this point in the game, you'd have your starter, Patrat, Lillipup, Audino (maybe, did shaking grass work that early?), Purrloin, Munna... and you had to be given a monkey in order to have any sort of type advantage over the first gym. Wow, what a memorable team composition. I totally didn't blow through this part with an overleveled starter.
