If you count Blue as a champion then Hau has to count too, they have the exact same pre-requisites.
N and Kukui are weird cases but they do fulfill the roles of final bosses of their respective games which is usually occupied by the champion, and N literally does defeat Alder prior to you fighting him so...

I don't know what you're talking about with the Blue comment, in the original games Blue is crowned champion after beating the Elite Four and then Red shows up and battles him.
In USUM it's the exact same thing, there's no champion and both you and Hau beat the Elite Four so you battle for the title.
You can say Hau technically never does become champion since he doesn't win the match, but considering that, just like Blue, he beat the Elite Four of a league with a vacant champion seat then I don't see why it wouldn't count.

Geeta isn't even the final battle of the Victory Road path - Nemona is.

Blue stays as the champion cause he's from a barely functioning Gameboy game while the whole point of the rematches starting with Alola was to showcase what being champion would actually be like as different people come to challenge you after beating the E4.
With your logic you could make the claim that actually none of the Gen 1-6 protagonists managed to beat the champion because you can go back and refight them as if you never took the throne, while in 7, 8 and 9 you cannot.

There are eleven champions. They are:

1) Blue

4) Wallace

Of these, five are male. This new gen gives females a majority but only just so.

Thus, there was never an "era" of either gender being dominant as champions.
