Legends of Arceus did this better, but it doesn't have nearly as interesting of an overworld.

They have *so much* potential
If it wasn't rushed to shit these might actually have been the best pokemon games created so far
Instead we get a half-finished product and a glimpse of what could have been.
Still maybe in another 6 generations GF will get their shit together, after all CoD learned to stop releasing the same dumb shit every year (giving at least 2 years of development now, its a slow improvement)

2nd worst Pokemon games. Open world is good if there are things to explore, secrets, puzzles etc. Game is so ugly that even a rom hack won't be able to fix it, unlike remakes made in Unity. Embarrassing coding and low effort, it should look and play at least like DQXI. Not a single thing was gained by open world in this game, except you have to walk more.

This, there's like one "proper" cave section if you could even call it that in the game and it looks hideous, there's no puzzles, no exploration outside of a mon spawning in a specific area which you can just expand by eating a sandwich anyways, fuck there isn't even a dense forest area, a volcano/lava area, haunted ghost area ect.

There is potential but GF either doesn't know how, or has the assets/time allocation to do so.

The game actually giving the player agency on what to accomplish instead of being a shitty hallway walking simulator where you just go where npcs force you to go like unova makes the game actually engaging instead of a boring slog where you’re doing nothing but tapping the A button.

legit can't think of any big name non-open world games released recently, there's hardly any other options, like imagine there's 99 vanilla ice scream stands and one mint and then go by raw numbers claiming, "well mint just doesnt sell as much so lets make more vanilla stands"
