so what is this thing actually supposed to be? champion’s ace, shows up in abundance at the bottom of area zero, whole relation to the crystal theming of this game, it “blooms” and points in 6 directions like a hexagon.
is it supposed to be the hellspawn of the 3rd legendary or something?

It's based on Copper(II) sulfate and Chalcanthum, basically a toxic crystal that sometimes grows in a flower-like shape. But yeah, it definitely has something to do with the 3rd legendary.

My impression is that it's a weird fantasy interpretation of a sunflower. Sunflowers are used to make areas contaminated with nuclear radiation safe, because they absorb the radiation quite well and then you can just remove and dispose of them. That's why it's poison type. The tera crystal part is the rock type

Of course it's not like LITERAL nuclear bombs, just sort of a fantasy spin on it. That's why it's Area Zero, it's a play ground zero. Some sort of huge disaster happened that caused tera crystals to form in the remnants of whatever catastrophe happened. Probably at the hands of the 3rs box legendary

I don't think I've seen it brought up in lore threads yet but the mountain range in the north east by the grayed out part of the map (Kalos?) is full of gigantic crystals and it's the only place in the game with them
