why do they keep shoehorning this fuck into everything? he's kinda cool, I'll admit, but there's tons of other cool starters who don't get nearly as much love.

They did the same thing with Zoroark and then Lucario for a while. Charizard, has nostalgia attached to it so they will always force it to appear. Normally I wouldn't be so annoyed if they did the same for Venusaur and Blastoise

I never thought it was a dinosaur, but I also never thought it was a frog, more like some sort of hybrid creature because it also has those ears that are more reminiscent of some mammal. That being said, it's decisively too chonky to be hopping around like that.

Charizard didn't ruin this franchise, TPC not knowing how to shill a pokemon ruined this franchise.

TPC wanted to sabotage Zoroark (after shilling it) just to shill Lucario again in Gen 6, and it worked so well that they sabotaged other pokemon to make others look good, and Charizard was the one that gained the most from this dirty strategy, so Lucario is more to blame than Charizard.

That's why people get upset when Charizard gets everything and that doesn't happen with popular species like Omnimon/Omegamon, Blue Eyes White Dragon and Mario's main characters.
