For the longest time they didn't even acknowledge the existence of shiny Pokemon, now it's an official mechanic and they promote it all over the fucking place. Not even just in-game, but in cards and plushes and spin offs and whatever the fuck else too. Not to mention all the "content" the game has for shiny hunters and all game freak has to do is change the fucking color of a pokemon. No they won't remove shinies. They get a massive benefit for literally no work whatsoever. Even shit shinies like this thread, some streamer will spend 12 more hours playing the game try to get it, then post a youtube video about it getting 100k+ views.
