even pikachu at the very least has its tail, ears, and markings change. pawmi just gets fucking bigger.

Not this gen, next gen. It's Ash's replacement's partnermon.
They made it "just get bigger" so they didn't have a repeat of Pikachu not being able to evolve or they'd lose brand recognition.

Raichu is still cute, and still looks like an actual evolution and design advancement from Pikachu. Pawmot is literally just Pawmo but with slightly fluffier hair and an inch or two taller. It's lazy and shit.

I just realized you can find wild Raichu in the Power Plant in both japanese and international blue versions. For the longest time, I thought it only appeared in Cerulean Cave in gen 1.
