Scarlet has higher highs (Roaring Moon, Slither Wing) but lower lows (Brute Bonnet, Flutter Mane)
Violet on the other hand has a full suite of perfectly average designs.
It's hard to compare them accurately.

Yes violet is just MUH future but that's the point and they are mainly all executed very well whereas scarlets are pretty lazy and don't really fit they're just odd designs not really the past

Hard to say, Past mons are more consistently good designs but frankly i consider Brute Bonnet to be the most boring Paradoxmon over the two sets even more so the Iron Jugulis and Iron Thorns is a fucking dream come true after like decades of Mecha Tyrannitar being a thing and being all mechs and the completely consistent "Iron X" makes them sell the "Different" factor better then the past mons.

I mean, the Past mons are cool, but they feel more like "Normal" Fossil Pokémon rather then having the "does not belong here" factor.

Though keep in mind this is coming from someone who completely avoided SV news after their announcement and was completely blindsided by their whole existence and got to have my first experience with hem in game while playing Violet, so bias out the ass here.

Violet gets uniformity, only really hindered by Fauxdreigon. The rest are all good.

I have no idea why /vp/ hates this thing, it's got an amazing but simple design, retains the cute af cry, and actually fits into the world as a whole. I desperately wish it was usable and not a strict downgrade to Amoonguss in every way.

Yeah I really don't get how people can shit on Iron Jugulis while pretending that Flutter Mane isn't just Misdreavus with hair gel. Designwise Scarlet for sure, and that's coming from someone who prefers Violet overall. The future Paradox forms all being robots is reductive and boring. They should have been something like fusions to contrast with the Past forms, in a game that introduced a concept analogous to convergent evolution this would have been perfect. Give the Past forms distinct features that would have been lost over time, and give the Future forms features similar to other Pokemon as their evolutionary lines converge. Metagross and Magnezone, Houndoom and Boltund, Starmie and Minior, Crawdaunt and Crabominable, etc. Just making them all robots seems like a huge missed opportunity. It worked for Iron Thorns, Moth, and Jugulis for the sake of references but the rest could be so much better.

Because it had the pokeball appearance long before pokeballs were a thing. It inspired their design. Ancient Amoonguss had to evolve to run around and be aggressive to catch its prey since Pokemon don't fall for the pokeball design trick, but as humans created pokeballs and got tricked by the moongusses to be their prey they decided to stand still which would be easier than chasing mons.

Overall, I like the robotic idea, the execution is okay, but thinking about it, it would have been a better idea to have pokemon that have completely changed to fill certain niches instead. There was a thread like that I think last week or so talking about the same idea. Over time, the pokemon from the future adapted differently, and maybe Tyranitar could have changed into something else to fill a certain niche that no longer existed during that time. So, if something had gone extinct or left that niche, something would replace it.

The problem is that there is just no variety. Scarlet has "Pokémon but past" and Violet has "Pokémon but future", which is okay. But Scarlet paradoxes are far more varied: they throw hints of cavemen here, or dinosaurs there, or anything that hints at the past. Violet paradoxes? It's all robots. That's it. Robots, period. Was there no other future related concept they could've gone with? How about aliens? Beings of light and plasma? Organic machinery instead of just metal? It's just a missed opportunity, like everything with Pokémon.

But then I'm also biased cause I like robots unlike most everyone here and also the base pokemon in Violet are ones I actually like. I couldn't give a single fuck about Jigglypuff or Amoongus and before the Scarlet wanking I didn't really hear of many others that had either, at least outside of Japan. Iron Moth is a robot skin of Volcarona. Slither Wing actually looks like a different-but-related Pokemon. Bulkier, fuzzier, grounded. MAYBE Iron Moth can get the edge by virtue of looking more like Volcarona, which is a hugely popular design, but Slither Wing gets the edge for feeling like it sensibly plays into the concept of a relative.

Moon, Wing, Shocks, and Tail all have distinct silhouettes from their counterparts, something only Valiant can boast on the future side. In a pure numbers game, Scarlet is more varied. People also respond better to believability. Yeah it's all fake bullshit but no one's going to criticize you for making too much sense. "Pokemon ancestor is primal" leads to more sensible design language than "Pokemon descendant is robot" on top of the former being objectively more freeing than the latter.

Violet Paradox fails because it's just a lazy reskin of them being robots. If they went with some of them being robots and the others being close to Scarlet Paradox (i.e., add more to the design and try to make it look like a potential evolution through time) then it wouldn't be so much of a problem.

Anon, it's a tank tread. Like from it's name, Iron Tread. This works because Donphan roll up into a wheel-shape to attack - using the trunk and thick hide for traction. Iron Tread has a tank tread instead of a faux-rubber tire. Most of the future mons elaborate on themes with subtle changes to their design.

Violet wins for me but overall I hate paradox forms design. Iron Bundle is by far my favorite it was saved thanks to soulful attack and fainting animations. Sandy Shocks is awful did not think they could ruin a Pokemon from my favorite evolution line until I saw this thing with "hair", a "mouth", and a "tail". Every other Violet paradox is just boring "get it it's future because robot bro" design. Every other Scarlet paradox is just boring "get it it's past because it has spikes and a tail now bro" design.

roaring moon is the only good scarlet design to me and iron valliant is tthe only good violet design to me.
overall I find the pair equal, so what's left is looking in the reject bin and determining the better pair.
giving it to violet, because while violet's setup feels boring, at least it's just "meh" instead of feeling overdesigned. like scarlet.
