Megas come back. They stop making furry/bara/waifu-mons. They decided to rebalance the stat spreads on the gen two starters for some reason. All the starters are great, and they're the best they've been since gen 3. The legendaries actually look cool.

you know how whenever game freak does something good, they don't do it again? Or in the rare case they do it again, it's done worse rather than improved upon. That's why. Also they seem to care more about experimenting with new spinoffs that don't receive a follow up, like LGPE.

It feels like a holdover title because Switch 2.0 was coming out and they wanted Scarlet there.

But then if it wasn't that, it really was just another 'open world' mon game a year before GenIX that outpaces it in a lot of areas.

I like this development mentality. It stops a series getting bogged down by features a fanbase come to expect over time instead of making new things.

Would I really use Terasterialise if Mega was available? Probably not.

i wasn't talking about regional gimmicks. Theres nothing to say you can't use megas, z-moves, dynamax, and terras.
I meant more along the lines of follow pokemon, battle frontier, safari zone, PWT, having the gym leaders be actual characters rather than just a benchmark, and from what I can tell pokemon breeding has been completely neutered in favor of making competitive more accessible. Making competitive more accessible isn't the main issue for that last one, that's fine. The issue is you can make competitive more accessible while keeping the breeding mechanics from becoming irrelevant through mints and bottle caps. Just make it so online battles have a "rental" option so you can "rent" pokemon with certain specifications (ability, nature, gender, IVs, EVs, etc.)

It's going to be a return to Kanto/Johto reimagined as an open world map. It'll have a new type: Mystery, with a new eeveelution Mystereon. Gen 1 and 2 mons will receive new direct evolutions and new split evolutions (Misdreavus and Tangela each getting a new Ghost/Mystery and Grass/Mystery evolution). No idea what Mystery is but it is vague enough to fit things well enough that I can see them doing something like that. Plus they can just make its type interactions whatever the fuck.

Grouping in Johto is probably unrealistic but it sounds good if they're gonna try for a huge Kanto celebration for gen 10, which I just feel in my big swollen balls is gonna happen.

Game Freak recognizes the success of Genshin Impact and decided to make a new battle mechanic: Type Reactions
When your pokemon hits an enemy with a certain type, the pokemon affected by the move will have that type applied to them. This on its own won't do anything, however by applying another type to the affected pokemon, a type reaction will occur causing some (consistent) effect on the pokemon. It won't always be extra damage, it can have other effects as well. Once the reaction happens, the effect disappears.

Applying water suppresses ground type immunity to electric attacks, the water + electric combo increases damage to steel types.
Applying normal will cancel any possible reaction.
Fighting + Psychic = creates a weak barrier that lowers damage by a certain amount for 1 turn.
Grass + Water = heals for some percentage of hp

You can also apply these reactions to yourself. e.g. Calm Mind affects you with the Psychic type, so if you're affected by the Fighting type, you can now get a weak, 1 turn barrier in addition to the normal effects.
Status conditions persistently apply the type to your pokemon:
Sleep - Normal, Burn - Fire, Para - Electric, Poison - Psn, Freeze - Ice.

I feel like Italy is probably the most likely option, or rather least unlikely option, for the next region's inspiration out of many possible options. After that, I would say somewhere in the Americas, maybe another US region or possibly Brazil, and also I now believe that India isn't that unrealistic of an option after all.

China is going to be a no-go, but I expect most games to have some heavy Chinese references like SV did, and I think that's a good balance of bringing the cultural stuff into the series while dodging any geopolitical risks of pissing off the Chinese government for not doing it the way they wanted.

The staters will be bad and all of them will be bi-pedal. Gen 4 was the last gen with decent starters, that's not to say that there arent good starters past gen 4, Greninja is atleast top 3, but gen 4 was the last gen where every starter was good.

Diving is back, but the dive area is so big it's almost like a second region of sorts. Tons of underwater routes and even some cities inhabited by water mons.
One of the legends is found through diving.
