Expanding on Game Freak’s relationship with ILCA, ILCA has been tasked with developing the upcoming Johto remakes for a late 2023 release. Game Freak themselves are working on the DLC for Scarlet and Violet due next year so both are being done side by side.
The game is a return to the Let’s Go graphics, but with traditional game mechanics, Abilties, Held Items, and EVs etc. Following Pokemon returns more or less as it was in LGPE, Mega Evolution is likely to return as well as the game’s “burst mechanic”, doubt they’ll make any new ones but you never know. Apparently criticism for BDSP not having Megas resulted in this choice to go back to Megas for the first time since LGPE.
The development of a companion Legends title featuring Johto is also in progress for a 2024 release, will be announced alongside Johto Remakes the same way BDSP/LA were.
Announcement due for early March.
