For me, Gen 8 is questionable but I chose something close to the accent color of Journeys and Legends Arceus.

The pink is too garish I get the intention because of Pearl, but I think it's the game people would least associate with the generation overall. I would make it a darker blue. I also associate that Gen VI blue with Sword and don't think green seems out of place.

don't go for version colors, go for "feels"

gen 1 feels like green

gen 2 feels like a light brown

gen 3 feels like a sky blue

gen 4 feels like a gray

gen 5 feels like a black or white (lol)

gen 6 feels like a pink

gen 7 feels like a orange

gen 8 feels like a blue

idk how gen 9 feels so far.

The National Pokedex in Pokemon Bank divided gens like this
>Gen I = red
>Gen II = yellow
>Gen III = green
>Gen IV = blue
>Gen V = pink
>Gen VI = white
>Gen VII = cyan
Gen VIII and IX are unknown. I guess we would need magenta to complete the color wheel and then that pale green could work as opposite to Unova's pink

Gen 1 should be white --> "Palette town"

Then each gen should go by the "3rd" version of the game

Gen 2 -- Crystal
Gen 3 -- Green is fine
Gen 4 -- Gray
Gen 5 -- Black works
Gen 6 -- Red
Gen 7 -- Blue
Gen 8 -- Pink
Gen 9 -- Purple

I like it OP, Gen VIII is weird indeed. Probably you should a strong pinkish color because Eternatus and Dynamax.

That feels so unfitting though, Gen V definitely feels 'black' or at least 'grey' with the generally darker, moodier story and more complex models and designs. Not to mention the titles themselves - white text on black background feels ideal.

Pink feels more fitting for Gen 6. Lots of themes of beauty, elegance and magic as well as the introduction of Fairy type.

Stopped reading there. Red is the color of Pokéballs as well as the name for the MC for Gen I.
I don't care about anyone's headcannon for the rest of the gens. Putting Gen I as anything but "red" is incorrect.

I made a Pokédex app once and used these colors:

>5 black/gray
>6 pink
>7 orange
>8 purple
No idea what I'd give Gen 9.

Oh wow I wasn't too far off for the first half.

How? Gen 5 literally had colorless versions.
Also feel like Gen 6 fits pink more since Fairy-type, etc.

I know, I'm just saying it can work too. White can also fit for Kalos because the games are X=blue and Y=red and Kalos' map and French's flag use red, blue and white as colors.
White is literally the middle point of Kalos' sides/games/ecosystems/etc

Johto-Yellow
Hoenn-Red
Sinnoh-Purple

Unova wasn't around but I think dark blue would be good for it
