Nope. Game launched without a feature we got in 5th gen when we were still playing with fucking pixels. This is on top of all pokemon in Gen 9 having sleeping animations intended exclusively for OUTSIDE of battle. Animations they don't use in battle at all, by the way.

Probably the weirdest oversight. For a while I thought they couldn't do it on the overworld/battles because the lower poly models couldn't close their eyes or something (a couple of them don't open their mouths). I don't understand how they missed this to begin with because there was no scenario where this wouldn't be bugged before the patch.

It literally fixes a fuckload of visual issues(though there's some left, they fixed some NPCs but not all).
Additionally there was performance fixes. Clearly gamefreak worked on the stuff they knew at the time, rather than more niche shit that came from all the memory leaks and such.

They're talking about coding. My knowledge of coding is pretty damn rudimentary, but they're saying that Gamefreak may have used an "if" statement instead of a "when" to execute the "eyes closed" animation, which caused it to not trigger properly.

It's an easy, simple mistake, but one that indicates that they've done little to no playtesting.
