Also are the other rivals are factor too? Arven needed someone for the titans and probably just a friend in general and Penny needed someone to get her out of that whole Team Star bullshit.

Penny has friends. Which is probably why she's a bit rude to us and the others.
Arven however was probably lonely as fuck and Nemona also said in the postgame that she has trouble connecting with peers.
