>>52511327My impression is that being scientists were means to the end of their childhood goal of getting to see and interact with Cryptid Pokémon they read about in some "Weird Science" tabloids and then they rurned out to be competent at it and got Geeta to fund them and then had a fallout with one of them walking out because the projects scope was now set to Past/Future dismotivating the other one.
Basically they are the kind of person who read a creepypasta about some monster and was like "I wanna create that monster! I bet we would be BFFs!" and then hooked up with a fellow fan of the genre who was a fan of a different monster.
And then they got eaten by the monster upon achieving the goal.
