Black and White did have third versions technically, so did Sun and Moon
GF wouldn't have the balls to call it Pokemon Gun. SwShs third version would probably be something like "Bow" or "Arrow" or "Cannon"

Give Z a plot about the re-use of the Ultimate Weapon and awakening of Xerneas/Yveltal throwing the ecosystem off balance, some zones becoming overran with pollution and ghosts, and Zygarde apparently rampaging around Kalos randomly when he's actually trying to hunt down those responsible and fix the disaster

They're still two games. And BW2 is just a whole ass different game. The point of a third version is uniting both games' differences into a definitive version

On paper, yes
On practice, third versions just gave GF an excuse to put out two unfinished versions first before giving us the actual games. Third versions are cancer.

The furthest I've thought about Z Version is this

You will still end up spending the same money to buy an entire game in DLCs. At the DLCs won't come with rebalacing the old campaign, new events on replays and whatever

The difference is that 3rd versions, in the era they were made, were also out of time constraints. DLC we’re getting is basically cut content while they’ve already working on a new to be released unfinished mess. So while in theory I’d agree, I liked 3rd versions more.

There's no reason for Gun, the plot already involves the third legendary and both two box pokémon in the main story. What else would you even add? The DLC pretty much acts as third version content too.

All gyms have mega evolutions, and much more challenge. You don't get mega Lucario super early. There is actual post game. Maybe another double form for someone like Charizard got.

Might as well pay 2x40€ instead and get an improved story AND the improved post game in the 2nd game.
